3.4 Limiting the display in the summary

You can limit the messages shown in the summary window in a number of different ways. This can be useful if you are looking at an RMAIL file with a large number of messages.

Choose Mail > All Messages to list all messages in the current RMAIL file in the Summary area. This is the default setting. You need to choose this command to return to the default setting after using any of the commands described below.

Choose Mail > By Sender to display only those messages sent by a particular person. Supply a name at the echo podium prompt, and only messages sent by that person are displayed in the Summary area. When supplying a name, you can supply all or part of either the electronic mail address or the real name of the person.

Choose Mail > By Subject to display only those messages which have a certain subject. You are prompted for a subject in the echo podium. You do not need to specify the whole subject: individual words or parts of words are sufficient, giving you a very flexible way of summarizing large mail files. Note that the string you supply is compared in a case sensitive manner, however.

Choose Mail > By Recipient to list only those messages which were received by a certain person. Supply a name at the echo podium prompt, and only messages sent to that person by name are displayed in the summary buffer. As before, you can supply all or part of either the electronic mail name or the real name of the person.

Choose Mail > Unread to list only unread messages.

Choose Mail > Deleted to list only those messages that have been marked for deletion.
