3.1 Loading and displaying tools

There are many tools available, and you can display them in a number of ways. You can also control how a given tool is re-used within the environment. In this discusion, we will discuss both setting global preferences with the Tools>Global Preference menu item and also setting the preferences for any specific tool type by making a specific tool window active (assuming that ou are using the default MDI interface) and using the Tools>Preferences menu. The Tools>Preferences menu always sets the preferences for the tool type of the active tool window in the MDI interface.
