5 Pop-Up Menus

5.1 Understanding pop-up menus

A pop-up menu is a viewport for displaying a set of options that can be activated by mouse clicks. You can select an item in the pop-up menu by moving the mouse cursor over the appropriate option and then clicking any mouse button. After you have selected an option, the menu disappears and information about the selected option is returned.

This chapter describes how to create and use pop-up menus and provides the Lisp code that the Window Tool Kit uses to implement pop-up menus. This code is shown in Section 5.3 on page 55, and it can be modified by experienced users to change the behavior and appearance of pop-up menus.

You cannot create or use pop-up menus unless the Window Tool Kit has been initialized.
