5.1.18 CAPI now has native Motif interface

Note: Most available documentation for the CAPI is for LispWorks version 3.2. This section lists major changes to the CAPI since LispWorks 3.2.

The implementation of the CAPI in this version of Liquid Common Lisp has a back-end interface to native Motif libraries and widgets.

The new CAPI implementation requires linking with X Window System (version 11, release 5 or release 6) and Motif (version 1.2.4) libraries. The images in the Liquid Common Lisp distribution are not linked in this way. You must configure your images appropriately for the versions of these libraries that are available on your platforms. You can use either static or shared versions of the libraries. For more information, see Section 3.1.4.

The CAPI implementation has changed the way some Liquid Common Lisp tools interact with the X Window System. The following changes apply to most tools:

Select All places selected text on the X clipboard in text format.
Cut, Copy, and Paste operate in conjunction with the X clipboard.

The following changes apply to the editor:

Highlighting a region makes that region the X primary selection.
An action that causes the highlight to disappear does not cause the editor to disown the primary selection.
Operations that place an item on the kill ring also make the item the X primary selection.
