3.1 Characters

3.1.1 Standard and printing characters

Common Lisp defines a standard character set as a subtype of characters called standard characters. The standard characters consist of the newline character and the 95 printing characters, which include the space character. The standard characters are included in the base character repertoire. The printing characters are also known as graphic characters. All extended characters are graphic.

Figure 3.1 lists the printing characters according to their collating sequence.
